LUMBERTON - The varsity men's soccer team at Scotland High picked up its second Southeastern Conference victory on Monday night in Lumberton.

The Scots go to an overall record of 6-5-1 and 2-1 in the Southeastern Conference with the 3-2 victory over the Pirates.

Scotland came back after being down 2-0 at the half, according to head coach Colin McDavid.

"We looked sleepy in the first half," McDavid said. "But in the second half we turned up the pressure and got the win."

Balyn Krout scored first for the Scots early in the second half from a penalty kick.

Krout got the second goal for Scotland with an assist from Joseph Monroe.

Evagheny Khandoga scored the third and final goal for the Fighting Scots to go up 3-2 over the Pirates. The goal was assisted by Johnny Lee. The goal from Khandoga was the game winner.

John Yarborough got the start in goal for Scotland. McDavid put Josh Wheeler in the last 10 minutes of first half.

Josh Collins and Logan Weagraff played key roles in the victory over Lumberton for Scotland, McDavid said.

"They normally don't get to play but when they went in they played well and stepped up when it was needed of them," he said. "They are always ready to play."

The Scots play another Southeastern conference match on Wednesday at Pate Stadium against Richmond. Scotland will look to retaliate over a Richmond loss earlier in the season. The game will start at 7 p.m.
