“We would not be able to have a tournament without the help of these community-minded persons,” Scottish Pilot Club President Sandy Carter said.
Following the completion of 18 holes, the players gathered in the clubhouse for an awards luncheon. The following special guests were recognized by Carter: Martha Hasty, mother of Barbara Sasseen; Susan McCarter, her daughter; and Anna McMillan, Sasseen's sister. Her husband Tony Sasseen also attended and was recognized.
Chip Wells, golf pro at Scotch Meadows Country Club, presented Jersey Mike’s cash prizes to the following winning teams:
First Place Team:
Brian Cooper, Randy Yarborough, Bobby Cooper and Robert Cooper.
Second Place Team:
Jeff McGirt, Charles Grant, Russell Sunderland, and Ron Williamson.
Third Place Team:
John Young, Gene McLaughlin, Shane Young, and Jason Thomas.
Fourth Place Team:
Kyle Bethel, Bill Hill, Donald Barringer, and Alton Gentry.
Other prizes given went to Bobby Cooper and Jo Caldwell for the longest drives, and
to Judy Geddie and Alton Gentry for closest to the pin. Geddie won for hole number two and Gentry for hole number 17.
After raffle prizes were drawn, Carter thanked all who attended for their support of this year’s Scottish Pilot Club’s charity golf tournament and reminded them to pick up their door prizes before leaving. She also thanked tournament Co-Chairs Debbie Grant and Charlotte Pilson for their hard work in coordinating the event, along with the many businesses and individuals who supported the tournament through sponsorships, door prizes and food.
Carter reminded the group that Scottish Pilots will be selling shelled pecans in six varieties from now until the holidays.
The total amount of money raised from the tournament, with proceeds donated to various community projects and agencies, was not available at press time.
