The Scotland High School tennis team beat Purnell Swett on Thursday afternoon at the Scotland County tennis courts.

The Scots (4-4) beat the Rams by the score of 9-0 respectively.

In singles play, Scotland took six straight points to go on top of Swett early.

Scotland number one seed Jessie Boda defeated Purnell Swett number one seed Kelsey Hunt by the score of 6-1 and 6-0.

Scotland number two seed Eleanor Sojka took on Swett's Rachel Dial and picked up another point for the Scots. Sojka won by the scores of 6-0 and 6-1.

Scotland number three seed Sara Harling also received a win for Scotland on Thursday. Harling defeated Ram's number three seed Maggie Deese for Scotland's third point of the day. The score on court number three was 6-1 and 6-1 advantage Harling.

Scotland number four seed Munroe Buie took on Purnell Swett's number four seed Brittany Strickland and won easily. The score was 6-2 and 6-1 respectively.

Scotland number five seed Jessica Shelley defeated Kayla Jacobs by the scores of 6-2 and 6-2.

Scotland number six seed Charlotte Laurent defeated Swett's Jasmine Rogers for the final point in singles play. The scores of the match were 6-2 and 6-0.

In doubles play, Boda and Sojka picked up the next point for Scotland to make the score 7-0 on the afternoon. The duo took on Swett's Hunt and Deese and beat them by the score of 8-0.

Harling and Buie defeated Dial and Strickland in their doubles match on Thursday. The score of the match was 8-0.

In the final doubles match Shelley and Cori Newton defeated Swett's Rogers and J. Oxendine by the score of 8-0.

The Scots will travel to Pinehurst to take on Pinecrest on Tuesday. The match will begin at 4 p.m.
