James Earl Thompson, 28, of 114 Corey Road in Maxton, was found dead Sunday at 11:18 p.m. on a dirt road located in a field at the corner of Carl Street and Candid Drive in Maxton, according to a sheriff’s report.
Sheriff Kenneth Sealey said that Thompson was shot to death following a possible altercation.
No one has been arrested in the incident.
