Man accused of stealing steaks

A Scotland County man was arrested Monday afternoon for allegedly stealing meat from a local store.

Gerard Panky, 53, of Biggs Street, Laurinburg, was charged with larceny and placed in Scotland County jail under a $1,500 bond, a Laurinburg police report said.

Parker hid four steaks worth $42 under his shirt and attempted to walk out of Walmart, the store's loss prevention officer told police.

Moped reported stolen

A moped was reported stolen from a local man's front yard as a neighbor watched without calling authorities, a Laurinburg police report said.

Jermaine McCrimmon, 22, told officers his white 2008 moped was taken from the front yard of his Sugar Road residence in Laurinburg sometime between Sunday at 9:30 p.m. and Monday at 7 a.m.

The report said police interviewed a neighbor who said he watched as the theft occurred, but did not notify McCrimmon or police. He told officers the moped was loaded into a black in color truck with a single cab and square headlights.

B&E nets electronics, shotgun

A Laurinburg woman reported close to $4,000 in property taken from her storage unit while she was out of town, a Laurinburg police report said.

Amanda Koone, 21, of South Turnpike Road, told officers that someone broke the lock off of her storage building and stole a 42" television worth $3,000, a 27" television worth $300, other electronics worth $125, a double-barrel shotgun worth $100 and tools worth about $200. She said the incident happened between Aug. 30 and Sept. 9.

Police have no suspects at this time, the report said.

Prescription pills taken

A couple in their 50s reported 57 pills stolen from their Laurinburg residence.

Meta Liles Fink, 59, and David Fink, 55, both of Stonewall Drive, told officers someone stole 27 Xanax pills and 30 Lorcet pills that had been prescribed to them between Sept. 4 and 9, a Laurinburg police report said.
