The students, faculty and staff of the Scotland High School of Health Sciences are collecting pennies - and nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollars, for that matter - in support of the upcoming Relay for Life at Pate Stadium on October 2-3.

In support of their effort to raise money for the American Cancer Society for cancer research, the students have dotted the entire Scotland High campus with brightly painted “pennies for life” jugs.

“We wanted to do something to help out,” said Health Sciences senior Charity Chavis. “We have been encouraging students in all schools to get involved in this worthy cause.”

“I am very proud of our students,” said Health Sciences Principal Pam Patterson. “They organized this drive because they wanted to support this cause here at the school.”
