Survivors are three daughters, Evonne and Mary Monroe of Raeford, and Pamela Johnson-Phelps of Camden, S.C.; two sons, Gonnie Johnson, Jr. of Arizona and Bernard Johnson of Jersey City, N.J.; two stepsons, Robert Lee (Rose) Harrington of Greensboro and Alexander (Robin) Harrington of Winston-Salem; one sister, Mary (Henry) Young of Brooklyn, N.Y.; five brothers, Henry and Eddie (Marie) Johnson of Brooklyn, Danny (Dorothy) Johnson of Durham, and James (Dorothy) and Bill (Gloria) Johnson of Laurinburg; and eight grandchildren.
