SHS soccer beats Jack Britt

Sophomore forward Balyn Krout had another four goal game to help his team to another non-conference victory on Tuesday night.

The Scotland High School men's varsity team are on a four game winning streak after starting the season 0-3-1.

The Scots (4-3-1) beat Jack Britt 5-2 on Tuesday night at Pate Stadium to the winning streak going.

In the first 25 minutes the Scots dominated Jack Britt in ever assest of the game. We beat the in our forward play, mid-field play and defensively," Head Coach Colin McDavid said. "We simply out played Jack Britt in the first 25 minutes."

In the last 15 of the first half, Jack Britt turned up the pressure on all aspects of their game, McDavid said.

"They put pressure on us in the lat 15 of the first half and our defense played up the par for us," he said.

The Scots used their counter attack after the Jack Britt put pressure on the Scots to get their first two goals of the game.

"We relied on our counter attack to much tonight, but it worked for us in the end," McDavid said.

Balyn Krout scored the two goals for the Scots. The Scots would go into the half up 2-0.

In the second half, Jack Britt scored early to make the score 2-1.

Krout would get his third goal midway through the half to make the score 3-1. Krout's third goal would be the game winner for the Scots.

Joseph Monroe would then score again minutes later to make the score 4-1.

Jack Britt would not give up and scored another goal to try to break into the lead just a little bit.

But then Krout would score the final goal of the night with minutes to play in the game to finalize the win for the Fighting Scots. The score put the Scots up 5-2. Krout had four goals on the night.

Mid-fielders Alex Fricke , Johnny Lee, Joseph Monroe, Leo Morales all had one assist for the Scots against Jack Britt.

John Yarobourgh started in goal for the Scots and received the win for the Scots. "John was outstanding for us tonight in goal," McDavid said. "He made point blank saves with people in his face all night, which was outstanding."

The Scotland defense was under pressure for the last part of the first half for the the better half of the second half.

"I give credit to our defense, Joseph Prevatte, Aaron Steven, Greg Jorgensen, and Joe Sojka for their outstanding play under pressure tonight," McDavid said. "They had to do a lot of work in the back for us to get the win tonight."

Overall, McDavid is happy with a win over a very talented team in Jack Britt but emphasized that the boys needed to keep working hard.

" I am happy for the win, but we have a lot of work to do," he said. "We have to work hard in practice to keep getting better."

The Scots will host Southern Lee tonight at 7 p.m. Southern Lee gave the Scots their first lose of the season, so the Scots will be looking retaliate.

The Fighting Scots Jayvee soccer team lost 8-0 to Jack Britt on Tuesday night at Pate Stadium. Jayvee will play Southern Lee at 5:30 p.m.
