The NC Missions of Mercy, an affiliate of the North Carolina Dental Society, invites local dentists and those trained in the dental field to join their efforts to serve the people of Scotland and surrounding counties. Dental trained personnel can sign up to work in the clinic by going to the web site www.ncmissionsofmercy.org and registering under "volunteers."
Treatments this year will consist of x-rays, extractions, fillings, and cleanings. Also, denture and partial repairs have been added this year. The clinic will be open to adults only. (Please do not bring children). Services will be provided on a first come, first serve basis; therefore, the wait may be long. We ask that you come prepared to wait outside. Bring snacks, umbrellas, hats, and medicine. Please remember to share your patience and appreciation for the dentists who give freely of their time and talents.
Last year the clinic served 384 patients with services that would have totaled over $150,000. We are expecting more dental workers this year and hopefully more patients will be seen.
The community has been very generous in helping to make this event very successful each year. We feel very fortunate that the Missions of Mercy have selected Laurinburg as one of the locations to hold a free dental clinic.
Clinic hours will begin at 6 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 11 and 12.
Bring with you a list of current medications, and some form of proof of income. Any questions about the clinic can be directed to the Scotland Community Health Clinic at 276-9912 or to Stewartsville Baptist Church at 277-0077.
