The Hometown Quartet Southern gospel group will make several area appearances in the coming weeks, according to vocalist Stuart Carmichael.

"We will be traveling to Lumberton to appear at Broad Ridge Baptist Church on Aug. 30 at 6 p.m.," Carmichael said, "and we will have three appearances in Scotland County during the month of September."

The group is scheduled to appear at the Kiwanis Gospel Jubilee Sept. 12, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at Scotland High School; at Central United Methodist Church in East Laurinburg on Sept. 13 at 4:30 p.m.; and at Scotia Village Sept. 24 for a 7 p.m. appearance.

Kiwanis Gospel Jubilee Director Cecil Daughtry said that the Hometown Quartet is an exceptional group with great charisma.

"The Hometown Quartet has been an inspiration to me ever since they organized four or five years ago," Daughtry said. "They are wonderful guys and excellent singers with great harmonies; they do a super job."

Carmichael hopes that everyone can attend at least one or more of the upcoming shows.

"We invite everyone to join us for an evening of Southern gospel at its finest," Carmichael said. "We hope to see you there."
