The Fighting Scots won in five set. Winning the first two sets with scores of 25-15 and 25-12. In the third set, Head Coach David Barnes used a different offense to work on things for the future. The girls would lose the third set 19-25 in the 6-2 offense.
"The 6-2 offense allows my team to be bigger at the net, " Barnes said explaining himself why he used a new system. "It is where you have six hitters and two different setters."
Barnes emphasized that he uses the 5-1 offense mostly. "We just wanted to see how the 6-2 offense would work after beating Jack Britt fairly easily in the first two sets," he said.
In the fourth set Barnes switched back to the 5-1 offense, but the girls struggled to maintain a early lead, according the Barnes. The Scots lost the fourth set 22-25.
Barnes said the girls bounced back in the fifth set and won the set 15-5 in the 5-1 offense.
Coach Barnes said that the team will continue to work on the 6-2 offense during the rest of the season, and try to perfect it.
According to Barnes, his team played through adversity to win the game.
"In game 5 we responded and it's good the girls played through so adversity," Barnes said. "Jack Britt will be the toughest opponent we have during the regular season, and the girls played well against them."
