Scotland teachers will get a chance to upgrade their talents this fall.

More than 30 professional development seminars for the state's public school educators are being offered this fall on the campuses of the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching.

The programs cover a range of subjects directly aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.

Full-time teachers (pre-kindergarten through grade 12), media specialists and school counselors who have been employed in North Carolina schools for at least three years are eligible to attend NCCAT seminars (some exceptions may apply). NCCAT covers all program costs including seminar expenses, meals, lodging, and pay for the substitute teacher while the participant is attending the seminar.

The fall schedule opens with NCCAT's "Teacher Scholars in Residence" program (Sept. 8-12 in Cullowhee). Individuals or collaborative teams of up to five educators pursue projects of outstanding intellectual promise.

For information about NCCAT's instructional programs, visit www.nccat.org or call 800-922-0482.
