Truck stolen after altercation
A Maxton woman recently reported that her truck was stolen after a brief altercation.
Pamela Oxendine, 28, reported Wednesday evening that a woman stole her 2000 Chevy Silverado while it was parked at the C&D Mini Mart, a Robeson County sheriff’s report said.
Oxendine said that she stopped to put air in her tires. When she was finished, she climbed into the driver’s seat and a woman wearing an orange shirt and blue denim shorts was in the passenger seat holding her keys, the report said.
The woman hit Oxendine repeatedly in the head with her fists, and Oxendine got out of the truck. The woman drove the $10,000 truck away. Oxendine’s wallet, worth $40 with cash and identification cards, was inside the vehicle.
Three arrested for shoplifting
Three Rockingham women were arrested Friday after allegedly leaving Wal-Mart with $450 worth of stolen goods, a Laurinburg police report said.
The report says Fannie Mae Smith, 30, Thomas Street; Crystal Patterson, 29, Lincoln Avenue; and Michelle McLaurin, 29, Hoffman Drive, were charged with larceny and placed in Scotland County jail, each under a $1,000 bond.
The trio left WalMart with the merchandise in a Blue Explorer, the report said. Officers stopped the vehicle on Turnpike Road near the Indian Museum.
The report indicates one woman tried to flee with two children, but returned to the vehicle at the command of law enforcement.
Two charged with assault
Deputies arrested two Laurinburg residents for assaulting each other.
A sheriff's report said Burt Reynolds Clark, 35, was charged with assault on a female, and Mary Jane Mumford, 33, was charged with assault and battery. They were arrested Sunday at 2 p.m. at their shared residence on Stewartsville Cemetery Road.
They were both placed in Scotland County jail without bond.
SUV stolen, recovered
A stolen SUV belonging to a Laurinburg woman was found in South Carolina Sunday morning, before the owner had noticed it missing.
A Laurinburg police report said Linda Smith, 39, did not know her burgundy 1994 Nissan Pathfinder had been stolen from her Harvell Lane residence until deputies called at about 5 a.m. Sunday to say the vehicle had been located. The SUV was found in a ditch in Dillon, S.C. There was no one around the vehicle when South Carolina authorities located the vehicle.
The report says the vehicle is worth $6,000.
Electronics stolen
Over $900 in electronics were reported stolen in a recent break-in, according to a Laurinburg police report.
Adrian Mack-Hall, 20, told officers that someone entered her Carver Street residence through a rear window and removed a Tashiba laptop, 17 DVDs and 15 PlayStation 2 games.
