Nick Liles, a seventh-round draft pick of the San Francisco Giants in this year's draft, is hitting .302 with the Arizona Giants during his first season of pro baseball in the Arizona Rookie League. Liles has 26 hits in 86 at-bats, and he has three doubles, one triple and has stolen successfully all nine times he has tested the catcher's arm this summer.

Two moved down
Another pair of Scotland graduates, pitcher Tio McLean and first baseman/designated hitter Derrick Lowery, have been demoted from their advanced-rookie league teams.
Lowery has struggled through this season with injuries after signing with the Cincinnati Reds as a 24th-round draft pick, and he was moved from the Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer League to the Reds' team in the Gulf Coast League. Lowery played just one game in Billings, going 1-for-3 with a walk.
Lowery is hitting .364 (8-for-22) in his first six games with the GCL Reds. He has one double, two RBIs and two walks with an on-base percentage of .417 and an OPS of .826. Lowery was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored during the Reds' 4-3 win over the Red Sox on Thursday.
Lowery went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run scored against the GCL Orioles on Aug. 7, and he was 2-for-4 with two runs driven in against the O's on Aug. 2. The 2006 SHS grad has hit safely in four of six games since being moved to the GCL.
McLean was demoted from the Greeneville Astros of the Appalachian League to the Astros’ club in the GCL. McLean was 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA and nine strikeouts in 10 2/3 innings pitched for Greeneville. He started strong but posted double-digit ERAs in each of his last four outings, giving up a total of 13 earned runs in just 5 /23 innings.
Parker Bangs
Bangs, a teammate of Liles and Lowery on Scotland's 2006 state title team, had a strong season on the mound while playing for the Chatham Athletics of the Cape Cod League this summer.
Bangs went 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 16 2/3 innings pitched while playing in the nation's premier summer wooden-bat league. Bangs made 12 appearances, all in relief, allowing nine hits (only one for extra bases) and 14 walks.
At the plate, Bangs hit .193 (11-for-57) with a double and two RBIs for Chatham.
Russ Adams
Adams is hitting .246 (14-for-57) with two doubles, a triple, six RBIs and five runs scored since being signed by the San Diego Padres and assigned to their Triple-A team – the Portland Beavers — last month.
Adams has played 17 games in Portland, and has hit safely in five of his last six games. Adams went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored against the Albuquerque Isotopes on Aug. 7, and he was 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI and a run scored against the Round Rock Express on Monday.
