Robert Lee Easterling of Laurinburg passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the age of 76.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by the Rev. Steve Adams. Burial will follow the service at Hillside Memorial Park.

Mr. Easterling was born Nov. 26, 1932 in Scotland County, son of the late Edgar Lee Easterling and Flora Brown Easterling. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving proudly in the United States Army. For his service and bravery, Robert was awarded the Korean Service medal, Purple Heart medal and two Bronze Service Star medals. He worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring from the Laurinburg Post Office after many years of dedicated service. Mr. Easterling was a devoted family man and he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, Robert was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Easterling and a sister, Doris Easterling Ingram.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Edna Baker Easterling of their home; his daughters, Elaine Matthews of Laurel Hill, Shirley McFadden of Hamlet, Brenda Grant of Columbia, S.C., Pattie Walters, Susan Easterling and Polly Chavis all of Laurinburg; two sisters, Martha E. Boone of Laurinburg and Sadie E. Carlisle of Taylors, S.C.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
