Besides the formal atmosphere, black-tie attire and fine food, the 16th annual gala will feature its own celebrity host – M*A*S*H actor Jamie Farr.
Mike Vinson, Scotland Memorial Foundation’s event co-chair, says the actor will help this year's Ritz will draw people from far and wide.
“It may seem early in the year to be talking about Putting on the Ritz, but with our announcement that we’ve added the incredibly talented and hilarious entertainer Jamie Farr, better known as Corporal Maxwell Q. Klinger from the hit TV series M*A*S*H, we expect our November 7th gala to be a sold-out event and the grandest in its 16 year history," Vinson said. "We want people to mark their calendars NOW and plan ahead for the Ritz!”
The Lebanese son of a Toledo grocer, Farr received his “Star” on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1985. He spent 11 years on M*A*S*H, the enormously successful television show about the Korean War. Following that, he and fellow co-stars Harry Morgan and William Christopher spent two years starring in AfterMASH, the sequel. Farr’s career began in the late 1950s, when he became a regular on “the Red Skelton Show.” He also appeared on “The Danny Kaye Show”, “The Dick Van Dyke Show”, and was a regular on “the Chicago Teddy Bears” before his role as Klinger on M*A*S*H.
“We are extremely excited about having Jamie Farr headline our event,” Vinson said. “He is a very talented entertainer.”
Event co-chair Guy McCook says the committee will make some cosmetic changes to make this gala the best yet.
“In keeping with the addition of this incredible entertainer to our evening’s program, we’ve added other exciting changes for our Ritz patrons this fall,” Guy McCook said. “Our tent is new and improved this year. We’re adding dazzling chandeliers and custom draping, glass paneled windows, and upgraded seating to the inside of the ballroom. A fabulous dessert room off the main ballroom will be filled with mouth-watering treats. We’re also adding wait-staff to stroll through the ballroom and serve wine to our guests, and to complement our silent auction we’re adding a live auction that will feature spectacular items and vacation package deals.”
Putting on the Ritz is put on by the Scotland Memorial Foundation every November. This year, the event will be on Nov. 7. Proceeds from The Ritz proceeds fund:
