Three opportunities to win free vacations will be part of the annual Child Care Directions, Inc. Suitcase Party fundraiser to be held Aug. 29 at the Storytelling Arts Center in downtown Laurinburg. According to organization Director Sandy Carter, the event will be an evening of "music, dancing, food, and fun" that will feature door prizes and the chance to win a free weekend trip to another part of the state.

"In addition to other door prizes, we will be offering free vacations to the beach, to the mountains and to the city of New Bern," Carter said. "A DJ will be on hand to play a variety of your favorite Top 40 and beach tunes, and we will offer light refreshments and drinks."

All proceeds will go toward the Child Care Directions, Inc. general fund.

Tina Stocks of BB&T in Laurinburg was an "excited and surprised" vacation winner as a result of attending the 2008 Suitcase Party.

"We had a great time, both at the party and on vacation," she said. "We won a trip to New Bern, which we took in December of last year. I would certainly recommend that anyone attend this year's Suitcase Party on Aug. 29."

Tickets for the event are $30 per couple or $20 for individual admission. The event begins at 8 p.m. and continues until midnight.
