Dr. Jasinski’s dissertation was entitled, “An Examination of the Multicultural Training Component Within School Counselor Education Programs.” While a doctoral student at South Carolina, Jasinski received the College of Education’s Dr. Patterson Wardlaw Memorial Fellowship, the Graduate School’s Cecil Scott Fellowship, and the Center for Teaching Excellence’s Preparing Future Faculty credential. Jasinski was inducted into the Golden Key International Honor Society and was appointed as the student member of the Teaching and Learning committee of the Focus Carolina Initiative led by the President of the University of South Carolina, Dr. Harris Pastides. Jasinski was also a recipient of the Student Affairs/Leadership Programs’ The Outstanding Achievement and Student Triumph Award at South Carolina.
Additionally, Jasinski served as the President of the Upsilon Sigma Chi chapter of the Chi Sigma Iota International Counseling Honor Society. She also served as the newsletter editor and web administrator for the chapter during 2008-2009. Jasinski received the Ph.D. Student of the Year Award and the Outstanding Service to the Chapter Award by the Upsilon Sigma Chi chapter. Jasinski previously served as the Ph.D. Student Representative and the Student/Faculty Liaison of the chapter. Jasinski was also selected as one of eight international Chi Sigma Iota Fellows for the year 2009-2010.
As a doctoral student, Jasinski was selected as one of five national doctoral student recipients for the American Counseling Association’s Ross Trust Scholarship. She was also chosen as an Emerging Leader by the Southern Association of Counselor Education and Supervision.
Additionally, she received a research grant award from SACES for her work in the area of multiculturalism. Jasinski also chaired and co-chaired the SACES Graduate Student committee. She served as a student member of the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision’s Research Grants committee. She currently serves as a State Ambassador for the New Faculty Interest Network of ACES and served as a member of the NFIN Doctoral committee.
Jasinski also served as a member of the ACA Conference committee and the Graduate Student committee of the Association for Creativity in Counseling.
During her doctoral studies, Jasinski served as a Graduate Assistant and Teaching Assistant in the Counselor Education program at South Carolina. She taught a number of courses in the Ed.S. School Counseling program, and made a total of 28 presentations at local, state, regional, and national counseling conferences. She was nominated for the ACES Outstanding Graduate Student Leadership Award, the ACA Courtland C. Lee Multicultural Excellence Scholarship Award, and the Outstanding Doctoral Student in the Department of Educational Studies in the College of Education at South Carolina. She received both the University of South Carolina Graduate School’s Support for Student Conferences Grant and Travel Grant twice throughout her doctoral studies.
Prior to beginning the doctoral program at South Carolina, Jasinski worked for Scotland County Schools at Pate-Gardner Elementary School in Gibson. Jasinski is married to Dr. Kevin Jasinski and is the daughter of the late Sylvia Jones Murphy and Joseph Neil Murphy, Sr. of McColl.
Dr. Jasinski lives in Laurinburg with her husband, Dr. Kevin Jasinski.
