The American Legion Auxiliary awarded Leora P. Davis the Outstanding Volunteer Service Award fro services rendered at the VA Medical Center and the Most Distinguished New Volunteers District Presidential Award. She also received the Thomas W. Bird Membership Trophy which is awarded annually to the District President enrolling the greatest percentage of the district goal. Davis received the Certificate of Appreciation in recognition and sincere appreciation of outstanding service and assistance which contributed to the advancement of the American Legion Auxiliary programs and activities. She is the 3rd Place Mentor of the Year from the Department of North Carolina. Sue Gooch, Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Chairman, made a donation to the American Legion Auxiliary Headquarters for the Poppy Fund in honor of Leora Davis. Davis has been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over forty years. She recently retired from the Scotland County Memorial Library. These awards were given June 13 at the American Legion Convention in Raleigh.
