MORGANTON —Samson Williams, a rising senior for St. Andrews Presbyterian College, was named to the 2009 Southern Collegiate Baseball League (SCBL) All-Star Team after a strong summer as a member of the Morganton Aggies.

Williams had a .330 batting average this summer in 31 SCBL games to earn all-star status for Morganton.

“As a staff, we are very excited for the successes that Samson has had this summer,” said Keith Williams, St. Andrews head baseball coach. “We are looking forward to him coming back in the fall and providing leadership, on and off the field, to our younger players.”

The right-handed outfielder either ranked first or second in almost every batting category for the Aggies this summer. Williams is the team leader with 33 RBIs, six home runs, and three triples while ranking second on the team with a .330 average, .650 slugging percentage, 24 runs, and eight doubles.

Williams ranked in the top-10 of the SCBL in all seven of the aforementioned categories; he led the league in RBIs, finished second in home runs, and third in triples.

In his first season at St. Andrews after transferring in from Louisburg Community College, Williams batted .309 this past spring while leading the Knights with 56 hits, 37 RBIs, 35 runs, 10 stolen bases, eight home runs and five triples.
