A woman found dead Sunday morning at a Laurinburg hair salon did not break into the business and was not living on the streets, police say.

Lt. Chris Young says the woman – 38-year old Julia Ann Simmons – was permitted by the owner of Michael's Hair Gallery to stay at the business at the time of her death. Police believe the death was from natural causes, but the medical examiner is expected to submit a report.

He added that, while she did not have a permanent residence, she had consistently had a place to stay.

A police official had initially said that Simmons was homeless and had broken into the salon.
