Then began what would become a three-game series with the Myrtle Beach Crushers for the championship. Laurinburg would drop their first meeting with Myrtle Beach by a score of 5-0. Butler struck out five on the mound in her team's first tournament loss.

Laurinburg responded with a 5-3 win over Myrtle Beach in the teams' second meeting. Callahan was the winning pitcher, striking out four, and Butler had three strikeouts.

Callahan led Laurinburg with two RBIs, and Hailey Clark drove in a run.

Laurinburg clinched the championship with a 7-1 win over the Crushers. Callahan struck out three batters and earned the win for the Optimist All Stars. Callahan, Ikner, Clark and Ashleigh Bailey drove in one run apiece for Laurinburg.

"We lost one game and won three games, and they played hard in every game, with a few small errors that cost us the second game," said Laurinburg head coach Wayne Butler. "We learned from our mistakes and went on to win the last two games.

"This was the first time these girls had played together and I am very proud of each one of them."
