Officers found the body of a 38-year old Laurinburg resident inside a city business, police say.

The deceased, identified as Julia Ann Simmons of 906 South Main Street, was found Sunday morning inside Michael's Hair Gallery at 109A McKay Street, according to Captain Kim Monroe.

"It was found by a local citizen who reported the body inside the business," Monroe said.

Monroe declined to comment on what Simmons may have been doing in the business.

An official familiar with the incident believes Simmons had become homeless and may have broken into the hair salon for shelter.

There were thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday.

Preliminary information does not indicate foul play, Monroe said.

"Medical Examiner Dr. French was called to the scene and believes it to be of natural causes," Monroe said. "It is still under investigation until we get a final report from the medical examiner."

Monroe was not sure when police will have a final cause of death.
