The Laurinburg Rotary Club elected it's first every female president recently at their weekly meeting.
The club also swore in its newest officers for the 2009-2010 fiscal year.
Lisa Blalock, who was the President-Elect under Past President Neal Carter last year, is now the president of the Rotary Club for the 2009-2010 year.
"I brought up Lisa's name for president last year and I am very excited she accepted," Carter said.
"I am looking forward to what has in stored for our organization," Carter said. "She has a lot of exciting ideas for our club on how to make it a better organization and she has a lot of great ideas for our organization on helping our community."
Also meeting, nine members that have been with the Rotary Club for a year were sworn in as official members of the club.
he new members of the Rotary Club are as follows: Sheriff Shepard "Shep" Jones, Sam Thompson, Denny Koenders, Judge Richard Brown, Matthew Bull, Steve Wallace, Theresa Lamson, C.F. McDowell, and Clarell Litchford.
"The Rotary Club is a Service Club and the original purpose for the club was for business and professional people get together and meet and talk about business and professional acquaintances," Guy McCook said.
"Service programs the Laurinburg Rotary Club along with many other clubs support and address concerns such as health care, hunger, poverty, illiteracy and the environment," he said.
The Rotary members attend a weekly meeting that allows their members to enjoy fellowship of other members, enrich their professional and personal knowledge, meet with other business leaders in their community and learn more about the community as a whole.
