Storytelling workshop spaces still available

There are still some spaces available for children who want to learn storytelling performance skills.

Storytelling Arts Center of the Southeast is presenting “Be A Storyteller” Summer Workshops beginning next week.

Workshops will held at 131 S. Main St. Laurinburg.

The workshops are open the children 5 to 16 years of age.

"Students who join the Storytelling Workshops will have a wonderful time working with award-winning professional storytellers, said Jan Schmidt of the Storytelling Arts Center. "They will learn skills in a fun, energetic, and creative environment from people who know how to entertain audiences and are excellent teachers and mentors."

Each instructor is an experienced professional storyteller as well as a workshop leader, and have been featured at festivals, conferences, and in schools across the country, Schmidt said.

On Friday night, students may tell the story they have been crafting to the public.

"There are still a few spots available for your kids to enjoy this great opportunity to learn new performance skills that they can use on so many different stages," Schmidt said.
