Sheriff's investigators have been making progress on the Wagram home invasion, according to Sheriff Shep Jones.
"We've been able to identify the third suspect," Jones said. "I do not want to release the name right now."
The sheriff said warrants have been taken out on this person on charges of robbery, burglary and felony assault.
Investigators are also looking for 40-year old William Anthony Strickland on charges of robbery, burglary and felony assault.
The last-known address for Strickland is 9539 Springview Road in Charlotte.
According to Jones, the department is working diligently to close this case.
"Several investigators are working this full time and have generated some good tips," Jones said. "We hope to make an arrest soon."
Authorities say the two men were involved in a home invasion at 23296 Wagram Street that left another gunman dead. The 38-year old Anthony Martin, of 23920 Kale Street in Wagram, was fatally shot by homeowner Edmond Cooper, 62.
The three men entered the residence at 12:30 a.m., wearing masks and brandishing guns, according to Jones. The trio knocked out Cooper's wife, Debbie, by striking her over the head and tied up their 15-year old son before Edmond Cooper emerged from his bedroom with a gun.
When Martin was shot, the two other men fled while returning fire. Cooper was struck in the hand and had to be hospitalized.
The men are believed to have escaped with $1,000 in cash.
Martin's funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Laurel Hill First Baptist Church. He had five children and one grandchild.
