"The tournament format will be Captain's Choice, with a $60 entry fee," event co-chair Jane Callahan said. "This fee will include the cart, a green fee, beverages and snacks, and a light meal provided by the Faith Presbyterian Women."
Door prizes will be available as well.
"Being a church tournament, we try to make things a little different," Callahan said. "Many of our door prizes are homemade cakes and pies made by our Presbyterian women, as well as unique gifts that are made or given by our church members, businesses, or organizations from the community."
Additional prizes will be presented for the best team score, the team with the lowest putts, the longest drive on certain holes, and the closest drives to the pins on certain holes. There will be special awards for women, and seniors are welcome to tee off from the senior tee markers.
An Amish quilt will be raffled during the tournament.
"This queen-sized quilt, given by three of our women from the church, is valued at $800," Callahan said. "Tickets are available at $2 each from any member of Faith Presbyterian Church. You do not have to be present to win this beautiful quilt."
To participate in the tournament, call the Scotch Meadows Country Club at 276-0169 to register your team. Individuals without a team affiliation may leave their names to be assigned one for the event.
Monies for sponsorships or players may be sent to Sarah Thompson at 9301 McLeod Road, Laurinburg. Checks are payable to Faith Presbyterian Church and may be designated "Golf Tournament".
John McGirt of Laurinburg is co-chairing the event with Callahan.
"This event is a great fund raising opportunity for Faith, as well as for the Scotland Community Health Clinic, with whom the tournament is paired this year," McGirt said. "We invite everyone to join us on June 25 to play golf, to donate, or just to have fun. It's not necessary to be an avid golfer. We look forward to seeing you there."
All proceeds from the tournament will go toward the assistance of the ministry of Faith Presbyterian Church, with ten percent given toward the cause of the Scotland Community Health Clinic.
