University of North Carolina at Pembroke Chancellor Allen Meadors has accepted the job of president of the University of Central Arkansas, the board of trustees at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke has announced.
Meadors, 61, has been offered a three-year contract with a salary of $238,000 and an automobile allowance of $750 a month. The Arkansas university also will provide a home for Meadors' parents if a university-owned home is vacant, the contract states. The school is Meadors' alma mater.
The University of Central Arkansas in Conway offered Meadors the president's job June 4. He was one of four finalists interviewed by the board in Arkansas.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to go back to my alma mater to plot a new course and move forward," he said. "I feel very good about what we have accomplished at UNCP and as a community over the last decade."
UNCP trustees plan to meet with a representative from University of North Carolina system, in early July to discuss the search.
An interim chancellor has not been named.
