Economic transition focus of meeting

In partnership with Fayetteville State University, UNC Wilmington and the North Carolina Department of Commerce, The University of North Carolina at Pembroke will host a meeting on economic transformation on Tuesday, June 30, 8:30 a.m. - noon.

The Southeast Regional Economic Transformation Summit will be held at UNCP’s Regional Center for Economic, Community and Professional Development at COMtech. It is the third in a series of summits hosted at the three universities.

After introductory comments from the three chancellors, U.S. Representative Mike McIntyre and N.C. Deputy Secretary of Commerce Dale Carroll, the summit will focus on:

— Collaborative opportunities;

— Building the region’s economy through bio-agriculture collaborations;

— Tourism impact and collaborations;

— Partnering with secondary education to build the economy; and

— Entrepreneurship efforts in building the rural economy.
