Armed Robbery
A 50-year old Maxton man was robbed at gunpoint, according to a sheriff's report.
George Locklear, of Lakewood Drive, told deputies that he was walking in woods off Modest Road at about 4 p.m. Wednesday when he was approached by a man on an all-terrain vehicle, the report said.
Locklear said the man shot at him with a SKS rifle and demanded money. After he handed over the cash, Locklear said the man assaulted him with the firearm, causing minor injuries, the report said.
The armed robber escaped with about $900, Locklear told deputies.
Man arrested on crack charges
Authorities have a 26-year old Laurel Hill man in custody on drug charges, according to a sheriff's report.
Travis Djuan Poe, of Cherry Street, is charged with two counts of possession with the intent to sell crack cocaine, two counts of sale and delivery of crack cocaine, three counts of maintaining a dwelling, one count of possession with the intent to sell and deliver ecstasy and one count of sale and delivery of ecstasy, according to the report.
Poe was placed in Scotland County jail under a $200,000 secured bond.
Woman accused of prescription fraud
A 47-year old Gibson woman was charged with fraudulently obtaining a prescription, according to a sheriff's report.
Jackie Bennett, of Labrun McLean Road, was arrested at a chinese buffet and charged with obtaining a controlled substance, the report said.
The report did not specify how she obtained the controlled substance, or what it was.
She was placed in Scotland County jail under a $1,500 bond.
Maxton teen charged as burglar
Deputies arrested a Maxton teen on break-in charges, according to a sheriff's report.
Nicholas Garland Goodman, 17, of 409 Harpers Ferry Road, was charged with breaking and entering and larceny, the report said.
Goodman was taken to the Robeson County jail and placed under a $5,000 bond, according to the report.
