Elite opened with an 8-0 win over the Fayetteville Fury. Sam Gray and Logan House were both 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the team's offense. Cross Holfert, Ryan Mayers, H.B. Stone and Drew Armstrong added one hit apiece.
House pitched four complete innings to get the win on the mound.
Elite claimed a 5-0 victory over Carolina Forest Storm in the second round. Armstrong was 2-for-2 at the plate for Scotland Elite; Gray, Mayers and Austin Locklear had one hit each. Armstrong started and pitched two innings for the win, and Stone came on in relief and threw four innings for the save.
Elite knocked off the Richmond Raiders 5-4 in the first game of the championship round. Gray was 2-for-3, and House and Bryce Charleson both had a hit. Gray, Mayers and Cody Stewart each pitched two innings for Elite baseball in the win.
Elite played Richmond again, this time clinching the title with a 9-0 win. House and Armstrong were both 2-for-2, Gray was 2-for-3 and Holfert, Mayers, Stone and Charleson had one hit apiece for Elite. House started the game and threw 3 1/3 innings for the win, and Stone pitched the final 2 2/3 of the ballgame.
Elite is 29-10 this season, ranked No. 2 in the state, No. 6 in the Southeast region and No. 19 in the country among teams in their age group.
The team will compete in the USSSA state tournament, where they finished fourth last season, and then in the World Series, which will be held in Cincinnati, Ohio.
