I have a daughter at Scotland High School. Over the last few months she has related several disturbing things to me about the way rules are enforced in the system. Two students she knows of at the school were arrested for having drugs on school property. One was allowed to receive their work at home and complete classes the other was not. I have read the handbook and it clearly states ANYONE having drugs will be expelled for the year no exceptions. I just wonder why the rules are enforced for one and not the other. It seems there are a lot of questions about the way our school system is being run, but no one is giving us answers. I have a few questions like, why are you starting Scotland High 2 weeks earlier than the other schools in the county? Won't that cost extra money for fuel and pay for the bus drivers and the school faculty and staff? Where is the $750,000.00 of our tax money from the now defunct Highlands Charter School Chairman Willis? Why do some students who were expelled for criminal acts at school allowed to return and pass their classes while others aren't? Where is the money that is collected from the School Floor tax spent? I remember my oldest son saying when he was a student there, they didn't have enough books but almost $200,000.00 was spent resurfacing the football field. Come on parents of Scotland County step up and demand answers to where your money goes we have a right to know and to sue for the answers under the Freedom of Information Act. We demand answers now.
