St. David's Episcopal Church in Laurinburg sold $485 worth of artwork from Covington Street School and received $100 in direct donations from donors to the school as a result of an art show held at the church May 1 and 2.

The Rev. Marty Stebbins is the vicar for St. David's Episcopal Church.

"We enjoyed a great turnout from church members, parents, students, and the community," Stebbins said. "A total of 45 pieces of art were shown, and several people from the community as well as parents and students bought paintings. Two pieces were purchased by the Scotland Community Credit Union and will be hung in their lobby."

An original painting donated by Covington Street School Principal Sandra Wilcher was raffled as part of the event.

"I was happy to part with my painting on behalf of our school," she said. "I am an artist at heart, and was glad to be able to offer some of my talent to support the art show."

All proceeds from the art show and sale will be donated to the PTA of Covington Street School.

St. David's Episcopal Church is located at the corner of Covington and Azure Streets in Laurinburg. Sunday services are held at 11 a.m. with Eucharist at 12:15 p.m. on Thursdays.
