Deputies have charged two Laurinburg women with trafficking after police say the duo was caught on camera stealing pills.
Danielle Butler Smith, 25, of Carl Drive Road in Laurinburg is charged with trafficking in operator, conspiracy to traffic, misdemeanor larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny, the report said. Twanda Lynn Smith McRae, 31, of Carl Drive in Laurinburg, is charged with larceny, conspiracy to traffic opium heroin and felony conspiracy. The women are next-door neighbors.
Sheriff Shep Jones said the two were caught on tape stealing 500 pills from a local drug store. The quantity of pills is what upped the charge to trafficking from possession with the intent to sell and deliver, Jones said.
Both are in Scotland County jail, the report said.
Smith's bail was set at $150,000; McRae's was set at $75,000.
