Man hospitalized after Laurinburg shootout

A Laurinburg man is listed in serious condition after a shootout between two Laurinburg teens, both of whom are in custody, according to a police report.

The report said 20-year old Artemus Antajuan Robinson, of 9061 Captain Street, was struck by a bullet on Carver Street when he was involved in a confrontation with several others.

Dejarius Rudell Fields, 19, of 514 Shaw Drive and Letrell Deshawm Graham, also 19, of 1217 North Main Street, were both arrested following the incident, according to the report.

Fields is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and discharging a weapon into occupied property, the report said. He is in Scotland County jail under a $100,000 secured bond.

Graham is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury , assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a weapon in occupied property, injury to personal property and injury to real property, the report said. Graham is in Scotland County jail under a $300,000 secured bond.

The report said Graham was a passenger in the back of a vehicle that had pulled onto Carver Street in Laurinburg.

Fields and Robinson approached the vehicle, with Robinson attempting to get Graham to exit the vehicle, according to the report.

Fields and Graham then each drew guns and opened fire at each other, the report said. Robinson was struck, as was the car door where Graham was sitting.

Robinson was taken to Scotland Memorial Hospital, then airlifted to UNC-Chapel Hill where he underwent surgery.
