Laurinburg home invasion

A Washington Park resident was the victim of a home invasion, according to a police report.

Lee McLean, 51, was at his residence on Honey Street when two men knocked on his front door, the report said.

When McLean answered the door, the men forced their way in, the report said. One of the men struck McLean in the mouth and had him lie down on the floor.

The men removed a cellphone and $30 from the McLean's pocket and a bottle of gin from the residence, the report said.

McLean stayed on the floor until the men left, when he contacted police, according to the report.

Deputies apprehend suspected burglar

A 20-year old Wagram man was arrested as a burglar, according to a sheriff's report.

Deputies charged Bryan Christopher McDonald, of Gorham Circle, with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and felony conspiracy, according to the report.

McDonald is in Scotland County jail under a $5,000 secured bond, according to the report.

The report listed him as the only arrest in this incident, however the conspiracy charge indicates investigators believe others are involved.

According to DOC records, McDonald has been out of jail for 9 months, after serving time for sexual battery and crimes against nature.

Traffic stops leads to charges

Deputies piled on the charges against a Brunswick County man charged with traffic violations after finding warrants in two other counties alleging he'd skipped court, according to a sheriff's report.

The report said 48-year old Joseph Franklin Cartrette, of Ruck Crabway in Shallotte, is charged with six counts failure to appear in court, three each from Brunswick and Columbus Counties.

In Brunswick, Cartrette allegedly skipped court appearances for two counts of driving with a revoked license and one count of larceny, the report said.

In Columbus County, Cartrette was accused of driving while intoxicated, driving without a license and reckless driving, the report said.

Court calendars indicate Cartarette was charged in Scotland County with driving with a revoked license and failure to comply with license restrictions.

The report listed Cartrette's bail at $3,000. He is in the Scotland County jail.
