The Lady Scots improve to 17-2 overall and 9-1 in the M-SEC. Scotland will host Richmond on Friday at 6 p.m.; the Scots only loss in the conference came by a score of 4-3 in Rockingham on Mar. 27, and the Raiders hold a one-game lead heading into Friday's game.
If Scotland wins on Friday and both teams win out from there, they will share the M-SEC title, but will engage in a one-game playoff to decide who gets the league's top playoff seed.
"It's pretty much the biggest game of the year," said SHS head coach Patrick Williams. "This game pretty much decides how thing are going to go.
"We just want to have an opportunity to give ourself a chance to right a wrong. We marked it down on our calendar, and Friday's the day."
Jessica Milligan threw 66 pitches in a two-hit shutout against the Falcons. She did not walk a batter and struck out eight to improve to 17-2 this season.
Catcher Sarah Laviner was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to help lead the Scotland offense. Lindsey Wright went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Whitney Britt was 2-for-3 with a double, Colby Liles went 2-for-4 and drove in a run and Lauren Medlin was 2-for-3.
