Mable Breeden Quick, age 62 of Laurinburg passed away on Friday, April 24, 2009 at Century Care of Laurinburg.
The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2009 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by the Rev. Joel Quick. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
Mrs. Quick was born Jan. 21, 1947 in Scotland County, daughter of the late Floyd Breeden and Geneva Norton Breeden. She was the devoted wife of the late Clyde Quick. Mable was a precious and loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was the former administrator for Willow Haven of Laurinburg serving many years with dedicated service. Before her illness, she also served as the activity coordinator and Bible study leader at Prestwick Village. She was a longtime faithful member of the Gibson Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, the Rev. Joel Quick and wife Patty of Laurinburg and Michael Quick and wife Misty of Hamlet; a brother, David Breeden of Laurinburg; sisters Mildred Hudson of Maxton and Barbara Snuggs of Laurinburg; and her grandchildren, Kendrick Quick and Abigail Quick.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 26 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
Evalyn Marie Halstead
Evalyn Marie Halstead of 113 S. Dickson St., Raeford, died Friday, April 24, 2009 at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg. She was 78.
Mrs. Halstead was born in Allen County, Ind. on May 31, 1930 to the late Ralph and Lucile Parish Foreman. Her husband, Gene Halstead and her son Lee Drees preceded her in death. Mrs. Halstead was an avid bridge player and enjoyed working in her garden.
The family will receive relatives and friends between 2 and 3 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Survivors include two daughters, Amy Bullock and her husband Ken of Raeford and Kay Hurley and her husband Ted of Columbia, Ind.; one brother, Stuart Foreman and his wife Earlene of Florida; two sisters, Margaret Harding of Laurinburg and Barbara Boston of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; six grandchildren, Brian Shew, Bree O'Brian and her husband Ethan, Reid Sheppard, Devon Sheppard, David Drees, and Justin Drees; four great-grandchildren, Branson Heidenreich, Kayla Heidenreich, Ayden Sheppard, and Aydan O'Brian; several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

Willie J. Lee, 80, died April 21, 2009 at Morrison Manor in Laurinburg.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 27, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. at Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. T. R. Davis will officiate. The dove ceremony and burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel Sunday, April 26, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m.
She is survived by one nephew, Gregory Lee of Raleigh.

Lula Belle McLaurin, 75, of McColl, S.C. died April 21, 2009 at Carolina Pines Hospital in Hartsville, S.C. Funeral services will be Sunday, April 26, 2009 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church on Adamsville Road in McColl.

Ms. Viola Pankey, 91, of 12320 Pankey Town Road, Laurinburg, died April 23, 2009 at Morrison Manor in Laurinburg. Funeral services will be April 27, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Laurinburg. The Rev. Steven Lyons will officiate. Burial will be at the Pankey Family Cemetery in Laurinburg. Visitation will be April 26, 2009 at McPhatter Funeral Home in Laurel Hill from 6 to 7 p.m.
Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Cora Lee Adams, 71, of 407 Avery St., Laurinburg, died Friday, April 24, 2009 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte.
