LPD arrest man for shooting inside city

Police have a Laurel Hill man in custody after allegedly discharging a firearm in the city, according to a police report.

The report said 28-year old Jeremy Wade Pinkston, of Bayfield Road, was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm in city limits, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and assaulting a police officer.

Officials said that officers went to South Turnpike Road in response to reports of gunfire, where an officer observed Pinkston carrying a .22 caliber handgun in a holster.

Pinkston resisted police by jerking and pulling away from officers when they were trying to arrest him, officials said. Pinkston also allegedly shouted obscenities at the officers.

Elizabeth Clark was also arrested in the incident after she allegedly attempted to assist Pinkston, police said.

Officials did not immediately have an age or address for Clark.

Pinkston was placed in Scotland County jail under a $10,000 bond, the report said.

Deputies arrest two for appliance theft

Deputies recovered a Maytag unit reported stolen this weekend and have charged two in the incident, according to a sheriff's report.

The report said 46-year old Eugene Ricky Knott, of Airbase Road in Wagram, and 55-year old Peter McKoy, of Highway 71 in Maxton, were arrested on Highway 401 in Laurinburg and charged with larceny.

The two allegedly unlawfully removed a Maytag unit from the yard of Cathy Cooper of Airbase Road in Laurinburg. The report did not specify what the appliance was, but valued it at $450.

Authorities recovered the unit at the time of the arrest.

The two were released on written promises to appear for court.

Teen charged with AWDW

A Laurel Hill teen is charged with assaulting a family member, according to a sheriff's report.

Deputies arrested 16-year old Carl Primus of Smith Road at his residence, the report said. He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon and communicating threats.

The complainant shared Primus's last name and address. The report did not specify how the two were related and it did not list the age of the alleged victim.

Primus was placed in Scotland County jail under a $2,500 secured bond.

Gibson man charged in assault

A 65-year old Gibson man was served criminal summons on charges including assault, according to a sheriff's report.

Abraham Bines, Jr., of Newton Street, is charged with misdemeanor larceny, communicating threats and assault with a deadly weapon, according to the report.

The complainant was listed as Henry Leon Pearson of Railroad Street in Gibson. He brought the charges against Bines on March 25, according to the report.
