The Lady Knights went on a seven-goal run midway through the game to secure their first 10-win season. St. Andrews takes a 10-7 overall and 7-5 league record into the 2009 Conference Carolinas Tournament. The Knights earn the No. 4 seed in the tourney and will host a quarterfinal game for the first time on Wednesday against No. 5 seed Queens University of Charlotte at 4 p.m.
The victory over the Bobcats, who fall to 6-11 and 2-10, also guarantees SAPC its first winning season in the program’s six-year history.
Brown – who ranked first in the conference and ninth nationally with 5.25 points per game heading into the Knights' regular season finale – broke her own school record of 89 points, finishing with 92 in the regular season.
Sophomore Alexis Goldman and freshman Cara Manas both had hat tricks in the Knights' victory. Katie Wright added three points with two goals and one assist. Sophomore Kim McDaniel netted a pair of goals.
Freshman Anna Egeln had a season-high two assists while senior Courtney Ross added one assist.
St. Andrews held a 43-31 shot advantage, and a 46-42 ground ball edge. Freshman Shana Schroeder had a season-high seven ground balls. Brown picked up six ground balls.
Senior Eryn McCaffrey notched her 10th win of the season with 13 saves over 60 minutes. McCaffrey leads the league and ranks fifth nationally with a .538 save percentage.
