Fashion, food and friends made a convivial mix Thursday when the Scottish Pilot Club of Laurinburg held their second annual fashion show and bridge fundraiser at the Deercroft clubhouse. Following a luncheon of chicken salad, congealed salad, croissants and fresh fruit, more than 80 club members and their guests enjoyed a program that featured 10 local models displaying a variety of styles for spring and summer. Terry Gallman of Hi-Lites Ladies' Clothing in Laurinburg was the mistress of ceremonies.

"This annual event allows us to contribute more funds to the various projects our organization supports," Club President Debbie Quick said.

"Our main focus is to raise awareness of brain related disorders through our 'brain minders' program, in which we teach children to protect themselves from head injuries while in cars, on bicycles, and while crossing the street."

Tickets to the event were sold in advance, and attendees were given the opportunity to purchase a 50/50 raffle ticket at the door.

"The winning ticket receives one half of the money collected for the raffle," Club President-elect Sandy Carter said during the event. "Based on the participation so far, the winner should have a nice return on their donation." Marilyn Weishaar was announced as the winner of the 50/50 raffle at the conclusion of the event.

"I love to play bridge, and I love to support the Scottish Pilot Club," Joanne Martin said as she shared a table with Ann Buie. "Terry Gallman of Hi-Lites does a super job, and it's always so pretty this time of year. It's a great way to see the new fashions."
