Habitat for Humanity of Scotland County invites members with the Laurinburg/Scotland County Area Chamber of Commerce to its new store at 12340 McColl Road on April 23.
From 5 to 7 p.m., chamber members and their guests can browse the shop’s aisles of everything from coffee mugs to couches while meeting new business contacts.
The Habitat for Humanity Home Store was opened in 1995 to generate funds to support homebuilding for low-income families. With donated goods from individuals and businesses in the community, the Home Store was able to help build one to two homes per year. In November 2008, the Habitat offices and newly renamed “ReStore” family moved from a rented building on Roper Street to their new location. Projected income from the new facility is expected to help build approximately four homes per year. The new offices offer room to conduct homeownership classes and program committee meetings.
“We’re excited to host the Chamber Business After Hours for the opportunity to meet other Chamber members and showcase our new ReStore,” said Vic Celdaon, board president for Habitat. “Income from the store, along with community donations, helps us fulfill our mission of helping families in need own a safe, affordable home right here in Scotland County.”
Business After Hours is a monthly program designed for chamber members to increase awareness and sales for their businesses. The program is generally held the fourth Thursday of the month. Refreshments and door prizes are provided by the sponsoring business.
