A Laurinburg police officer resigned last week after allegations of inappropriate conduct, according to authorities.

Sanford Caulder was suspended on March 1 after being accused of inappropriate behavior, interim police chief Kimothy Monroe said. Caulder resigned on March 4.

Criminal charges have not yet been brought against Caulder, but the case has been referred to the State Bureau of Investigation, Monroe said.

Monroe declined to give further information regarding the nature of the allegations.

I find it pretty Funny that the majority of the time the only people you hear making negative comments about the police are the same people who get free rides in the police cars. You know who you are! The Guy who gets caught speeding and ask the officer why he isn't he out stopping drug dealers, or the crack head who says "why you harassing me I aint done nothing" yea you aint done nothing BUT BUY DOPE. Seriously think about the what comes out of your mouth some times. You do not have to flaunt your ignorance believe me people know you are ignorant. Good people who obey the laws rarely have a reason the complain about the people who enforce the laws. kisser635 what did you get arrested for? Oh let me guess you were set up! If you think there is a problem with the hard working men and women who enforce the laws in your area get off the dope stay out of trouble, become a decent contributing member of the community instead of a drain on I,t and do some thing about it the right way. DONT wine about the BAD cop that caught you breaking the law he is just doing his job. If you would go get one you would understand. Bottom line, don't do any thing that the police may have to come see you about and I promise they wont come see you!

When you all say that there are some good cops out there you are absolutely right. I do not think righteousfight was saying that ALL cops are dirty. And police officers are some of the most unsupported, underappreciated people there are. Few people have any idea what a police officer and his family goes through everyday. The problem with this police department isn't with those good honest cops who are trying to do their job the very best way they know how. The problem is that the good cops are often discouraged from doing their jobs. They can enforce laws IF those criminals don't have professional or recreational relationships with any higher ranking officers or detectives. Let an HONEST cop make that mistake or heaven help him if he damages one of the city's precious police cars while chasing someone who broke the law and he will most certainly be on administrative suspension.

I think ALL of you have really valid points. Mrs. Thinblueline, I know your husband appreciates your loyalty. Seems like you are a good model of what a police wife should be. But do encourage him to watch his back because some of his brothers and sisters might not. Especially if he makes the mistake of catching any of their business associates.

By the way I've never been arrested and have an immense amount of respect and appreciation for the GOOD officers who serve and protect our city and don't steal from drug dealers.

There are SEVERAL "officers" of the Laurinburg Police Department who should be investigated. There are dirty detectives, sergeants, and people at every rank who have none of the honor that should go with this job. These immoral men AND women took an oath to serve and protect. The only people they are serving and protecting are themselves. The "interim chief" may or may not be involved in the criminal actions of his force, but if he isn't, he needs to man up and get control of his people because this force is an embarrassment to law enforcement. Somebody needs to clean house, and I have a feeling that the State Bureau of Investigation will be checking up on this whole department very soon.

Before you blame every officer you need the whole story. Whoever you are you have no clue about the men and women of the Laurinburg Police Department nd who they are. This department doesn't have a chance with citizens like you backing them. Do what they do,deal with what they deal with. Then post a comment. I'm so sick of all the negativity on our Pd. When you need them I bet you call. One thing I do know is the police department has no support. No positive support. I am the wife of a fine police officer and I promise you you have no clue what you are talking about. Our new cheif interim or not is going to do a great job for Laurinburg. You can believe he is going to be fair. Its a sad day to see the citizens here not supportmy husband everyltime he goes to work puts his life on the line for citizens who really don't care or are the cause. Its people like you that give scotland county a bad name.

IN REGARDS TO RIGHTEOUSFIGHT BOGUS AND SLANDEROUS COMMENTS, IN REFERENCE THE LAURINBURG POLICE DEPT AND THE TWO OFFICERS WERE MENTIONED, IT IS A DISGRACE FOR YOU TO SAY SOMETHING LIKE THAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO PROTECT AND SERVE THIS AREA. I AM EMERGENCY PERSONNEL AND I AM HIGHLY OFFENDED THAT YOU WOULD SAY SUCH A LOW DOWN ROTTEN THING. ALL OF US PUT OUR LIVES ON THE LINE TO PROTECT TOTAL STRANGERS EVERYDAY, AND THIS IS THE KIND OF BULL THAT IS SAID. UNFORTUNATELY WE CAN'T CHOOSE WHO WE HELP; SO IN HELPING THE GOOD WE ALSO HAVE TO HELP THE UNDESERVING & UNGRATEFUL PEOPLE SUCH AS RIGHTEOUSFIGHT. THANK FOR SHOWING THE LEVEL OF SCUM THAT WE END UP HELPING. HOWEVER, WE WILL CONTINUE TO DO OUR JOBS AS BEST AS POSSIBLE EVEN WITH THE SLANDER AND UNGRATEFULNESS OF PEOPLE SUCH AS YOURSELF. TRUTH BE TOLD YOU ARE PROBABLY SOMEONE WHO THEY HAVE ARRESTED. DESPITE YOUR REMARKS IF YOU CALL FOR ANY EMERGENCY DEPT THEY WILL STILL RESPOND AND TRY TO HELP, EVEN IF IT COSTS THEM THEIR LIFE & LIVELY HOOD. you WILL BE LUCKY IF THE DEPT AND THE OFFICERS NAMED INDIVIDUALLY DO NOT PRESS CHARGES OF SLANDER AGAINST YOU.
