Dorothy Bass Thompson of Laurinburg passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

She was outgoing, walked many miles daily, and never met a stranger. Everyone was her friend even if she had only talked to them on one occasion. She devoted her life to caring for her family and is going to be truly missed.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, the late Carl Forrest Thompson and her sisters Betty Jean Hendrix and Lucille Barfield.

She is survived by two sons: James “Alton” Bass and wife Ranotta and Forrest Thompson and wife Gigi of Laurinburg, her daughters Viola Troublefield and husband James Troublefield and Dorothy Mae Thompson of Laurinburg, brother Cliff “Sonny” Bass of Laurinburg, sisters Lizzie Stubbs of China Grove, Mary Jane Blackwell of Gibson, and Rosa L. Blackwell, Joann Bullard, Mary Jacobs, and Katie Newsome all of Laurinburg, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at the East Laurinburg Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held during the visitation beginning at 8:00 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Richard Tyson.
