Kathleen Howard Burns, 82, of Millbury, Mass., formerly of Laurinburg passed away on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 in Millbury, where she was living with her daughter & son-in-law Patricia and John Luce. She struggled with multiple health problems related to her heart and lungs for several years.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30 at the First Baptist Church in Laurinburg officiated by the Rev. C. F. McDowell, III. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park

Kathleen is survived by her son Sam P. Burns, IV (Susan) of Tallahassee, Fla., her daughter Patricia Luce (John) of Millbury, Mass., her grandchildren Brooke Pautsch of Tallahassee and Brett Burns of Melbourne, Australia, and her great-grandchildren Katelyn Pautsch, Bryce Pautsch, and Shelby Pautsch. She was predeceased by her grandchildren Kristy Burns and Scotty Luce.

Born on June 12, 1930 in Newnan, Ga., she was the daughter of the late John V. and Lillie Hutchens Howard and widow of the late Samuel P. Burns, III. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church Laurinburg where she served as the financial secretary and served on several church committees. She was also a member of the Laurinburg Pilot Club and Scotch Gardeners where she was a past president. Kathleen was a christian woman who valued her friendships with many people.

In the past she worked at Eaton Corp. and Storage Solutions/Miller Properties in Laurinburg.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
