Two members of the Rhythm Explosion Cloggers competitive program were named to the N.C. Clogging Association All-Star team last month.

Haley Sellers, 16, and Julianne Coulter, 15, were inducted to the 2012 All-Star team at a ceremony in Hickory on Nov. 17 with 16 other dancers from throughout North Carolina.

“Dancers are nominated based on their leadership, sportsmanship, and individual accomplishments,” said Rhythm Explosion director Hope Outlaw.

Earlier in the season, Rhythm Explosion sent 23 dancers to the American Clogging Hall of Fame World Championship in Maggie Valley in from Oct. 26-28. Over 600 dancers from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, and Florida attended the competition.

Teams in the Tiny Tot through Junior age divisions brought home two first placings, one second placing, and two third placings for their dances, and the Tiny Tot team was named the World Champion team in the 6 and under age division.

In solos, Zack Williams was the top 12-13 year old male soloist in traditional dance and Nikki Outlaw placed second in the 30 and over age division in a Capella dance.

On Oct. 27, the American Clogging Hall of Fame inducted 24 dancers from across the southeast into its 2012 All-American team. This year, 17-year-old Erin Stewart was Rhythm Explosion’s third inductee. During the ceremony, the dancers were awarded certificates and Hall of Fame jackets before their performance.
