You will have a chance to remember a loved one this holiday season with luminary.
The annual Pilot Club of Laurinburg project will take place Dec. 8 at St. Andrews University.
Organizers say that the university’s Dogwood Mile is expected to glow with more than 1,400 luminaries that Saturday.
Luminaries may be purchased for $5 each from any member of the Pilot Club. The purchase deadline is Nov. 30.
The luminaries lining the street are meant in memory or to honor family members and friends during this Christmas season. A brochure with each name printed will be handed out to each car as they pass by the luminaries.
“The Pilot Club of Laurinburg appreciates all the support the community gives our Club” said Pam Ashley, Club President. “The luminaries, a mile of beauty at Christmas, is a way of saying thank you for this support.”
The annual, long-running and popular holiday feature is the club’s major fundraiser of the year.
On an annual basis, the club channels back into the community the funds raised through the luminary project. The money goes towards Alzheimer’s Awareness, Autism Enhancement programs, Education projects including BrainMinders, Adopt-A-Classroom, grants for Autistic Classroom Teachers, the Anchor Club at Scotland High and High School scholarships.
