Third baseman Charles Weber led the St. Andrews Presbyterian College baseball team with two hits and one RBI in their 14-2 loss to the University of North Carolina at Pembroke on Thursday afternoon at Clark Field.

The Braves snapped a three-game skid, improving to 17-7 on the season, while the Knights drop to 5-18.

Leadoff hitter Kevin Dietrich once again flashed a hot bat for UNC-P against SAPC, going 4-for-5 with six RBI, two runs scored, and two stolen bases in the victory.

With Derek Funk adding three hits and two RBI from the number two spot in the lineup, the top of the Braves order proved dangerous on Thursday.

UNC-P's first six batters of the game reached base and scored, as the visitors jumped out to a six run lead. Four of the runs were unearned thanks to a costly Knights error.

The Braves led 8-0 before the Knights got on the board with a pair of runs in the fourth. Josh Axelsen led off with a single to extend his current hit streak to six games and J.T. Maguire followed with a walk. Samson Williams drove in Axelseonwith a single through the right side of the infield and Weber plated Maguire on the ensuing at-bat with a single to left.

SAPC was held to six hits, with Weber and Axelsen each notching two hits. Both teams left 10 runners on base.

The Braves added three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to pull away for the 12 run victory. UNC-Pembroke finished with 14 hits and nine walks en route to their third straight victory over the Knights this season.

UNC-P starter Jake Dailey improved to 2-0 on the season, going the minimum five innings required get the victory, allowing two runs on four hits over that span with seven strikeouts.

Knights' starter Chris Dobbins was bounced after one inning and took the loss allowing six runs (two earned) on five hits.

St. Andrews will next play a three-game series against Conference Carolinas foe Limestone College this weekend. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, with the first game beginning at noon and the third on Sunday at 1 p.m.
