Mildred Annette Edwards Goodwin, 57, of Shallotte, formerly of Laurel Hill passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012 at the East Laurinburg Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Richard Tyson. Burial will follow the service at Scotland Cemetery.

Mildred was born January 12, 1955 in Bennettsville, South Carolina, daughter of the late George and Julia Jones Edwards. She worked in textiles and was a devoted homemaker. She loved being a member of the East Laurinburg Baptist Church where her family were founding members. Mildred enjoyed baking, decorating cakes and especially fishing from the pier.

She is survived by her daughter Julie Parker of Laurel Hill, son Cody Goodwin of Rockingham, brothers Johnnie Kerr Edward of Maxton and William “Harry” Herman Stone of Gaffney, S.C., sisters Willie Grace Stone of Ocean Isle Beach and Carrie Gertrude Ikner of Laurinburg, two grandchildren: Caleb Corbin and Megan Parker, and her nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service on Friday at East Laurinburg Baptist Church.

The family request that memorial gifts be made in memory of Mildred to the East Laurinburg Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1846, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
