"We had a whole snow man by the end of the seventh," joked McCanna.
Eight of the 10 walks delivered by Swett pitching came in the seventh, and that compounded with some timely and abundant hitting led to the Rams being embarrassed at home by a final score of 18-1.
By the end of the seventh McCanna said he was holding runners from scoring on wild pitches in a vain attempt to keep the game from going from blow out to all-out beating. An observer needn't look far to find Swett pitching's polar opposite. Scotland pitcher Taylor Hale struck out 12, walked one and allowed only one hit through seven innings on only 83 pitches.
"Taylor pitched a great game," said McCanna, praising his sophomore pitcher.
With a slew batters reaching base, identifying offensive standouts for the Scots was difficult for McCanna, however freshman Cori Newton (4-for-4, 3 runs, walk, 2 doubles) and Ashley Paolozzi (4-for-5, 3 runs) stood out among the rest.
The JV Scots play again on Tuesday at Pine Forest at 5 p.m.
